Hoi An
Projection mapping - Animation
In this project we got to explore the possibilities of projection mapping for a restaurant in Hoi An, Vietnam. The goal was to create a perspective animation on the tables. Inspired by the famous Le Petit Chef, the story revolved around the Vietnamese Zodiacs. All the mood boards in this project were inspired by the Vietnamese style and culture

I was responsible for buildings/assets modeling, mocap cleanup, props animation and simulations. I used Cinema 4D for modeling and texturing the buildings. I got to explore clouds and smoke simulations in Houdini in some scenes.
Cloth Simulation
Initially, the plan was to use simulated clothes. I worked on designing the garments based on Vietnamese culture. However, due to time constraints, these garments were not used in the final video. The project had more than 9 characters and cloth simulation would have been too costly, timewise!
Interactive walk cycles
Since the project had a lot of walk cycles, I developed a workflow using the amazing tool: C-motion in Cinema 4D. The tool allowed me to save character animations as presets to use with other characters. And to automatically adapt footsteps locations to any terrain for a faster workflow.
Dynamic rigs
The project had multiple animals that could use dynamic rigs. As one of my favorite features in Cinema 4D, I decided to save some animation time by setting up the rigs as dynamic.
This workflow came in handy for fish and fish/like creatures. As I was responsible for all the probs animation in the project, The workflow was much faster, with the ability to bake the animations and refine details in the final stage.
Turbulence FD
In the smaller smoke simulations, I used Turbulence FD, since the workflow is much easier than Houdini and produces sufficient results.
Clouds
For the clouds, I used Houdini as it provides great control over all the attributes. First, I generated the clouds using point VOPs and attribute noises and then made the simulations with the Pyro solver.
Modeling
I was responsible for modeling two scenes in the project. I used a blend of techniques between hard surface and organic modeling. The goal was to capture the essence of the Vietnamese culture in the interiors and the Hoi An market in the architecure.
